Reception - RG

 In Maths this week we have been learning about capacity and using the language; full, empty, half full, nearly empty and nearly full.  We enjoyed dressing up as wizards and making magic potions in our bottles! We have been learning to sequence  the story The Three Little Pigs. To help us remember the order we acted it out. We performed it in front of the class and we had lots of fun acting out the story in the playground.     In RE we were learning about the Christian belief that God made all the animals in the world. We looked at the  different continents on the globe and the kinds of animals we would find there.   We then drew pictures of our favourite animal and we played a game putting the pictures of the animals in their correct habitat. We were very good at this!

  In Maths this week we have been using pan scales to weigh objects and we have been learning the language heavier and lighter. We enjoyed being human  scales and deciding which was lighter and heavier before checking on the pan scales. In PE we have been learning how to do a forward roll. It was very tricky for some of us but we showed great perseverance and Mr Thompson was very impressed with how well we did. In music we were playing musical instruments whilst singing 'Wind the Bobbin Up' and 'If You're Happy and You Know It' . We played maracas, triangles,  jingle bells and rainmakers in time to the music and it was lots of fun.

  In Music this week we have been learning the song 'Wind the Bobbin Up' and some of us performed the song to the rest of the class. Our new topic this half term is Houses and Homes and we enjoy playing in the Builders Yard in the role play area. Our story this week has been The Three Little Pigs and we have been acting out the story. We all want to be the big bad wolf! In Maths we have been comparing numbers to 5 and we played a hoop game and recorded our results.  We had lots of fun trying to throw the frogs into the hoop! We love the junk modelling in the Creative Area and we have made some amazing creations!
