Reception - RG

In Maths this week we have been weighing different objects with the pan scales. We even became human pan scales and moved our arm down if it was heavier and up if it was lighter. We have been sewing leaves for our Christmas calendars. We took great care to thread the needle through on our own. Mrs Grelak was very impressed.  We have been practising writing our challenge words onto giant paper. We enjoyed using the highlighter pens! On Friday we got the dressing up boxes out and had lots of dressing up in the different costumes.

This week our new mud kitchen and water area opened.  We had lots of fun making mud pies and mud cakes!  In PE this week we have been practising ball skills.  Mr Thompson said we were very good at dribbling the ball and keeping control of it. On Friday it was 'Children in Need Day' and we dressed in something spotty or stripy.  We enjoyed lots of Pudsey Bear activities and in the afternoon we met Pudsey in a video link with the BBC.  We were so excited!

We made firework pictures using marbles! We enjoyed seeing the different colours that were created when the colours mixed together.   On Rememberance Day we did some apple printing to make poppies  and we coloured in and cut out our own poppies. We have been practising our handwriting this week and Mrs Grelak is very impressed at how neat our handwriting is.  We are trying to sit our letters on the lines too.

We have been learning about Diwali the Hindu Festival of Light. We made beautiful Rangoli patterns and diva lamps. In the afternoon we had a Diwali Party in the hall. We tried some Indian food and then we dressed in traditional Indian costume and danced to Indian Bollywood music.  It was lots of fun!
