Reception - RG

 On Monday it was Maths Day and we had lots of fun doing the Maths Challenges out in the playground. We had to find 20 clues and work out the answers.  It was lots of fun. Our story of the week is Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and we have had lots of fun acting out the story with all the animals. We have been making animal masks at the Creative Table.  Some of them are very scary! We planted seeds in our planting trough as we are entering  the 'Let's Grow' gardening competition so we want our school playground to look beautiful and colourful. We planted sunflower seeds, cornflower seeds, nasturtium seeds and stock virginium seeds.  All of the seeds looked very different to each other.

Our new topic this half term is all about  'Animals' and we have been making camouflage pictures of animals.  They look amazing and you can't see the animals as they are so well camouflaged!   Our new Pet Shop and Jungle have opened in the role play areas and we have been busy making homes for animals with junk modelling materials in the Creative Area. When the sun came out we went outside and had fun finding shadows! We chased our own shadow then we drew round our friends shadow with chalks.  We also drew round some animals shadows. Artbase came to school to do some artwork with us.  They showed us how to hold the paintbrush correctly and how to make brush strokes on the paper. We did some colour mixing and made some patterns using the other end of the paintbrush!  It was lots of fun.
