Divali Day

As part of our topic on 'Celebrations' we had a Divali Day.
We learned about the beautiful rangoli patterns that are put on doorsteps at Divali to bring good luck.  We coloured in our own  rangoli patterns making sure the patterns were symmetrical.

We also made rangoli patterns on the iboard.

We used numicon to make symmetrical rangoli patterns.

We made a giant rangoli pattern by drawing round 2s shapes and covering the shapes with glitter.

We made Divali paper chains and hung them around the classroom.

We made symmetrical patterns with the wooden shapes.

We found India on the globe.

We finished off the day by having a Divali Party in the hall. We dressed up in some traidtional Indian clothes and danced to Indian music.

Then we ate some indian food. We tried poppadoms, samosas, onion bhajis, naan bread and mango chutney.  It was all delicious!
