Reception - RG

In Literacy we have had fun making words using our letter tiles. We took it in turns to take an object out of the bag and we put the letters in the correct order to spell the word. We have been learning all about 2d shapes and we went on a shape hunt around the school. We were amazed at how many shapes we saw! We took photographs of them with the ipads. We even found pentagons and hexagons! Our topic this half term is 'Houses and Homes' and we used shape sponges to paint a house.  We decided what type of house we wanted to paint then we chose the sponge shapes to create it.  It was lots of fun!

Our Book of the Week is 'Monkey Puzzle' by Julia Donaldson Little monkey wrote us a letter telling us he had lost his Mum and could we help him to find her. We had to solve lots of sums using bananas and we went on a number hunt for Mum in the atrium.  We went on a hunt in the atrium solving lots of number problems and they led us to Mum! We were so happy to find her! We also played the  'Frogs in the Pond' game which was lots of fun. We had to throw 5 frogs into the hoop and record how many landed in the hoop and how many landed outside. This really helped us to learn the number bonds to 5.
