Reception - RG

This week we have been learning to take away and we have been using the story Room on the Broom  by Julia Donaldson to help us learn how to take away. We read the story and pretended that the animals fell off the broomstick one by one! We enjoyed this take away story! We also made a witches potion and counted out all the gooey ingredients to add to the cauldron! We enjoyed listening to the story and using the finger puppets to act out the story. We went on a witch hat hunt to find out all the answers to the sums.  It was lots of fun! We took part in Planting Week at school and we enjoyed planting lots of plants  to make our school look beautiful throughout the summer. We also enjoyed our book of the week Handa's Surprise and we had lots of fun acting out the story.

The story we have been writing about this week is Dear Zoo and we made our very own Dear Zoo books.  We enjoyed being the author and choosing the animals for  our story. As part of our topic on 'Animals' we have been making  pictures of camouflaged animals.  We really enjoyed drawing the same patterns on the background and the animal then watching the  animal become camouflaged! This week we have been playing with some playtime toys.  We were very good at sharing and taking turns with the toys.  

 Symmetry This week we have been learning about shapes and patterns on objects that are the same in on each side. We learned that they  are  symmetrical! We played a game where we had to find the other half of our heart to make it whole and symmetrical. We had lots of fun playing this game. T hen we painted butterflies. It was  magical the way each butterfly was symmetrical and unique.
